The OLDES Research & Development program, funded under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) of the European Commission aimed to assist the elderly and vulnerable persons by a computer wizard, allowing them to stay longer independent at home. QAP’s assignment was to develop this technology on the Belgian market and identify the best possible mode of technology transfer to Walloon economic actors, either as a license agreement, or as a spin-off. The value is within the scope of the development of e-Health in Europe. This project was developed within the scope of the development of e-Health in Europe.
Centre of Excellence in Information and Communication Technologies (CETIC) is the Belgian ICT applied research centre dedicated to support industry in the area of Information Technology and Communication (ICT). Based since 2001 on the site of the Aéropole Charleroi CETIC has been created through the initiative of the Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix de Namur (FUNDP), the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) and the Faculté Polytechnique at the Université de Mons (FPMs). Through its ongoing relationships with university teams, CETIC remains permanently updated on current and emerging scientific progress in Belgium, Europe and the World.
Methodology – Valorisation of innovation
The methodology is based on the definition of possible use scenarios and the organisation of workshops to compare alternatives allowing retain the most appropriate business model of technology transfer. Preparatory work is performed by interviewing a sample of representative Walloon health experts.
