Corporate Governance Committee | Belgium     Print

The Corporate Governance Committee was set up in January 2004 on the initiative of the Banking, Finance and Insurance Commission (CBFA), Euronext Brussels and the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium.

The original purpose of the Corporate Governance Committee was to draft a single reference code for Belgian listed companies. The Belgian Corporate Governance Code was published in due course on 9 December 2004. The Belgian Corporate Governance Code took effect on 1 January 2005 and listed companies were asked to publish a Governance Charter by 1 January 2006. An updated version has been published in 2009.

The ongoing aim of the Committee is to contribute to the development of corporate governance among listed companies by regularly monitoring enforcement of the Code, submitting suggestions for amendments, amending the Code or issuing positions on any regulatory initiative or other initiative pertaining to corporate governance.
