The balanced scorecard, developed by Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton, is a coherent set of performance measures organised into four categories.  The scorecard contains four, balanced perspectives - Financial, Customer, Internal Process, and Employee Learning and Growth.
The Balanced Scorecard acts a management system that enables organizations to clarify their vision and strategy and translate them into action. It also acts as a measurement system and communication tool.
